The Khagrachhari-Mahalchhari-Rangamati road is located 11 km south of the district headquarters and 4 km west of the main road at Noonchhari mouza of Sadar Upazila. The pond of this deity is located on the top of a hill at an altitude of 700 feet above sea level. It is said that the water god himself dug the pond to quench the thirst of the locals.

The water in the pond is considered by the locals to be a blessing from the gods. The water of the pond never dries up even after being so high that the pond was created by the miracle of the gods. Every year thousands of men and women from different communities visit the pond in the hope of gaining merit.

The pond of the legendary deity is revered by the people of Tripura. Every year on Chaitra Sankranti, a pilgrimage fair is held here and the Tripuras perform Yajna according to the Tantric rules. In the language of Tripura, the name of Devtapukur is Matai Pukhir. Matai means god and pukhi means pond.

Seeing the dense forest around the pond, it seems as if the god of beauty is standing by himself. There were two settlements next to this high hill. At one time this Jumiya of this settlement used to cultivate Jumiya in that hill. At one stage of zoom farming, he was forbidden in a dream not to plant the hill. But despite the importance of dreams, he continued to cultivate zoom as usual, even though he was repeatedly forbidden to do so in the same way.

The last time he was asked to enjoy the harvest of Zum with human sacrifice and in doing so he was told in a dream that he would gain some more wealth. But the gambler did not have the faith or ability to meet this demand. A few days later, on a New Moon night, a catastrophic earthquake shook the area. When people wake up in the morning, they see a huge pond at the top of the hill in the place of Zoom. This reservoir is known as Devta Pukur.

This deity pond is filled to the brim with water during the rainy season and does not dry up at any time of the year. Extensive mountain range around the pond. It is located about 700 feet perpendicular to the east-west in the middle of it. The size of the pond is about 1500 feet in length and about 600 feet in width.
